The Best Snow Removal Preparation Starts Months Before the First Flakes Fly

One thing for sure about winter weather: You can never be too prepared. That’s why we’re always adapting and adjusting for the expected AND the unexpected many months in advance in lots of different ways.

THE “MOCK SNOWSTORM” EXERCISE.

We do a “dry run” of a typical storm, just without the snow. It happens every autumn. Typically, in October or November all the operators gather on site with equipment in place and perform a run through the operations they would perform during a full fledged winter storm.

“SNOW MAPS” EXPLAINED

A snow map defines all the areas of snow removal work at a commercial location and then defines all the different surfaces to be cleared – sidewalks, paths, driveways, parking areas, etc. – in each specific area. Even where snow on roofs can accumulate and fall off onto the sidewalk. In fact, some sites can be so large, that a few different pieces of snow removal equipment are assigned to areas and monitored through the use of live screens and GPS positioning for maximum efficiency.

MAINTAINING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS

From submitting comprehensive bids to following snow maps for the quickest and safest plowing, we adhere to industry the standards that help educate and inform us and our clients. We’re members of ASCA and SIMA (show logos), two leading industry organizations who have established best practices for snow removal, contracts, and client relationships. At CSR, we not only meet those standards, year after year, we’re going beyond them to ensure total client satisfaction and peace of mind.
